The Flagship Healthcare Properties Project & Construction Management team is comprised of industry professionals with decades of combined healthcare-specific experience. Executive Vice President, Development
Mr. Baccich joined the Flagship team in 2014 and serves as Executive Vice President of Development and Co-Department Head. Thorn has worked in commercial real estate development since 2006 and specifically within the healthcare sector since 2010. Thorn’s responsibilities include leadership of Flagship’s development and construction management department. In addition to co-heading Flagship’s development and construction management service line, Thorn is a member of Flagship’s management team where he works closely with other departmental leaders to inform Flagship’s growth strategy, best practices, provider relationships & outreach.
Prior to joining FHP, Thorn spent four years as a member of the Real Estate Development and Acquisitions team at Atrium Health during a period of rapid growth. With Atrium Health, Mr. Baccich managed the acquisition and development of multiple new medical office, acute care and parking projects. Thorn is a Charlotte native and proud alum of South Mecklenburg High School and Princeton University. Thorn earned his degree in Architecture & Urban Planning while competing as a member of the varsity swim team. In addition to spending time with his wife and two sons, Thorn stays active volunteering for his alma mater and competing in various triathlon and masters swimming competitions.
Fun Fact: I swam on the varsity swim team while at Princeton and stay active these days competing in masters swimming and Ironman triathlons. I compete in an annual swim across Tampa Bay each January to raise money and awareness for the Navy SEAL Foundation.
Vice President & Managing Director, Project & Construction Management
Mr. Benge joined Flagship in 2020 and leads the firm’s project management department. He brings extensive healthcare project management and construction expertise to the firm, having completed many projects in both the acute care setting and outpatient capacity.
Prior to joining the firm, Garrett spent 6 years with Novant Health’s construction team. During his time at Novant, Garrett oversaw numerous multi-million dollar projects and managed all of the outpatient construction for Novant Health’s Charlotte region.
Garrett holds a degree in Healthcare Administration and has deep roots in the construction industry. Prior to joining Novant, he was involved in a family-owned construction business with a more than 30 year history that has positively impacted numerous Charlotte and Winston-Salem-area cities.
Born and raised in Davie County, Garrett has recently moved back to his hometown after living in Charlotte, NC for over 7 years. He enjoys spending time with his wife, and being a father to his boys’. In his spare time he also enjoys big game hunting, riding his Harley-Davidson, and traveling the U.S.
Fun Fact: I have harvested a Bull Elk with my bow and arrow out of the great state of Montana.
Vice President & Managing Director, Project & Construction Management
Mary Ellen George joined Flagship in April 2022. She leads Flagship’s construction management service line supporting our development and property management departments. Ms. George will lead construction efforts for assets we develop as well as upfit or capital improvement projects within existing buildings across our portfolio. Ms. George previously worked within the Planning Design & Construction division at Atrium Health since 2010, where she was employed as a Project Manager for 5 years before serving as Director of Planning Design & Construction responsible for outpatient and ambulatory facilities. She brings significant experience in the areas of strategic growth planning and construction management.
Fun Fact: I’ve visited the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. I would not want to be a window washer there!

Mr. Gregg is Executive Vice President of Development and Co-Department Head. In this role, Dev will directly support the company’s portfolio of development projects, providing strategy and vision for the capture, planning, structuring, financing, and execution of all new healthcare developments for the firm. In addition to leading our Development service line, he will join and assist other members of the management team in formulating and implementing best practices for a long-range development team strategy and the continued growth of the firm.
Prior to joining Flagship Healthcare Properties in 2017, Dev was Senior Vice President of Development Services with Cogdell Spencer and Erdman. There he was responsible for 32 healthcare development projects totaling 2,000,000+ SF and $420 million in cost, including ambulatory facilities, in-patient hospitals, and associated parking structures.
Fun Fact: I played college golf on the SMU golf team with Payne Stewart.
