In 2016, Flagship Healthcare Properties acquired Riverbend Medical Center, a medical office building anchored by Northwest Georgia Medical Clinic (NGMC). The physicians of NGMC developed the building and sought to sell the building to finance the practice’s long-term growth objectives. Flagship worked with the practice to negotiate a sale-leaseback transaction.

Additionally, Flagship was able to offer the physicians of Northwest Georgia Medical Clinic the opportunity to realize the value in their property while deferring taxes, and diversify their investment into a portfolio of healthcare properties, by allowing them to invest of a portion of the proceeds from the sale into Flagship Healthcare Real Estate Fund II (later rolled into Flaship Healthcare Real Estate Investment Trust – Flagship REIT).
